About us
Located on the A1(M) just north of London, Stevenage is a fast-growing New Town of around 90,000 people. Bunyan Baptist Church is situated in the original ‘Old Town’ and serves a typical cross-section of the whole community, across all age and ethnic groups.
The church was formally established in 1898, and the present building was erected in 1901. Major refurbishment took place in 1991 and the main church now seats around 200 people. There is an annex (Stanmore Hall) at the top end of Basils Road, this is mostly used for children's and youth work and is available for hire.
We are an evangelical Baptist church, affliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the Central Baptist Association. We adhere to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith, aiming to be Christ-centered and Bible-based. Our teaching seeks to make the Scriptures relevant to life in the 21st century, to build up, challenge and support our members in their faith and witness. We aim to celebrate the rich diversity of our membership in love and unity. This is expressed in our worship and real commitment to God's work in the town and overseas.

Our Mission Statement expresses that Bunyan Baptist Church exists to glorify God, and sets out how we intend to strive towards that aim.
We are commited to working with Christians of other denominations and are part of Churches Together in Stevenage.
We stress the value of small groups for building relationships and strengthening faith.
We believe in, and practice, baptism by full immersion for believers. Infants, who are unable to profess a personal faith, are brought for dedication.
