The old town project is a partnership between Bunyan Baptist Church and Bridge Builders Christian Trust.

Hilary Davies, a member at Bunyan who works for Bridge Builders is serving the community one day a week, building relationships with our local, old town schools; creating opportunities to make God's love real and accessible for all.

During the first year of this exciting new project work has been concentrated in two local schools; Woolenwick Infants and Woolenwick Juniors. Working in partnership with members of staff from Holy Trinity and Christ the King, a team of volunteers has been recruited to help lead assemblies and story clubs, mentor children, assist with RE lessons and book weeks.

Latest News: May 2010
"As a measure of the popularity of the story club, the children had to attend on a rota system because they all wanted to attend every week andour school hall just wasn't big enough!" says a member of staff at one of the local schools. Story Club will be returing to the school for a further 4 Mondays in June. We will be exploring more of God's story with these young lives.

A volunteer, visiting 'The Easter Journey' at Holy Trinity Church, commented that, "You can't get this by just reading the story. The transformation of the church building has engaged all the senses and captivated everyone."  I was so encouraged to see volunteers come forward from Holy Trinity & Bunyan Baptist Church, enabling so many young lives to encounter Jesus' passion. One school as apparently expressed a wish for their whole school to attend next year!

We are looking for 6 volunteers to be part of a weekly coffee morning, starting in September. The coffee morning will aim to support families as they begin the week. Bridge Builders already has a similar coffee morning operating at Chells Primary School. This has proved to be key in building relationships with local families. If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch with Hilary Davies.
